Crystal L. Tyler is a Partner at IslerDare, P.C.’s Richmond, Virginia office, where she focuses her practice on employment law and higher education matters. Higher Education Practice
Crystal is a trusted advisor and legal partner to colleges and universities nationwide, addressing a wide range of employee and student-related issues. She serves as a neutral third-party investigator, hearing officer, decision-maker, and appeal officer in complex matters involving Title VI, Title IX, sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other civil-rights related issues.
Crystal provides training and compliance guidance on Title VI, Title IX, and other civil rights laws. She has also served as an acting and interim Title IX Coordinator during periods of internal transition or in matters that involve internal conflicts of interest. She is also skilled at facilitating informal resolutions of Title IX cases, helping navigate sensitive situations with care and fairness.
Employment Law Practice
Crystal represents employers in litigation, mediation, and arbitration involving a full range of employment-related claims including claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and various other federal and state employment laws. Beyond litigation, Crystal works closely with employers providing advice, counsel, and training to help mitigate risk and avoid litigation. She regularly advises on key employment issues such as personnel policies, employee discipline, performance management, termination,, wage and hour compliance, and adherence to federal and state employment laws and regulations.
